Notably, at the same moment, we felt odd,
disjointed, somewhat disoriented. It was as if we had become—sojourning
aliens! As if we had just landed on this planet from another
world because, in a flash, what was once familiar and
commonplace suddenly appeared as strange and unusual.
We were suddenly—to use a common
spiritual phrase—in the world but not of the world.
Our first Earthfolk

and Home, and
our first Earthfolk feelings:
heartfelt peacefulness,
nurturing parental embrace,
peacefully and comfortably at-home—
enabled us to clearly grasp and deeply
sense the horrific condition the world was in in a
way that just moments before would have baffled us.
At our moment of Earthfolk insight two
iconic images flashed before us: the Mushroom Cloud and the
militarized Starship Earth. They have never left us. For they bracketed
what we immediately sensed was the foreboding vision of
the Dark Age that began on August 6, 1945. Ominously,
we realized that the blazing, super-brillant brightness of the Mushroom
Cloud had actually cloaked the Earth in a shroud of
spiritual darkness.
