When naked, something
happens that rocks the Lone Male god’s world.
What could
it have been?
It appears that Eve and Adam have a godly or
divine or sacred experience—embraced,
they move
beyond interiority into intimacy.
They mutually discover the insight that coupled sacred
sexuality reveals, namely, that within their
embrace is the power that creates life.
Within their embrace they experience the immortality that life itself is—that
birth overcomes death. That
humans never die as family
is and always was and will be forever.
At this—what
becomes a fleeting moment!—Eve
is no longer Adam’s Rib, she is his lover and his Beloved.
Eve and Adam have a new and novel awareness,
namely, a sense of their intimacy.
What Serpent power represents
for Eve is
that
of
the male which affirms and in embrace makes present
her
full feminine power as expressed through
being a Beloved and a mother.
Where the Lone Male god only gave
Adam a sense of his interior, that is, he enabled Adam to identify
himself
as the Master, as one exercising dominion,
after eating the apple (being sexually embraced as one with
Eve) Adam first senses his own intimacy—that
he is father and
a Beloved.
He now sees Eve
in a stunningly different light. His heretofore not so
invisible penis becomes quite visible. “And the eyes of
them were opened, and they knew that they
were naked …they strung fig leafs
together to cover themselves around the hips.” (Genesis 3:7)
