Again, in all these situations, the most unnerving personal challenge is
that the response of the Warrior Quester forces you to confront your own
deep commitments to their vision and practices.
In brief, you find yourself enraged, spewing hateful words, engulfed
in feelings of violent reaction and revenge…you find yourself shrouded in their darkness.
Earthfolk’s first sight of
Mother Earth immediately revealed how blind each
of us had been to our own abuse, denial and ignorance of Her as
Living, and about how our personal, individual
actions have kept Her shrouded in darkness. We immediately saw how
blind we were to the crippled, tortured, savage sense of Warrior’s
Quest sexually violent maleness that possessed us…an
insight we gained as Mother made present to us Her precious Beloved,
our Earth Father.
As we practiced various rituals—such
as the social ritual of nonviolence or the personal ritual of beholding
our lover as beloved—we realized that our practices always
evoke both inner Light and inner
Shadow. One of the reasons we suggest creating an Earthfolk
ritual zone is that you do this by consciously recognizing
that you are striving to transform yourself and
that you are intentionally opening yourself to your
inner light and darkness. In this way,
the Earthfolk ritual zone is a psychologically, emotionally and imaginatively “safe
place.” It is the safe place where you explore being sensually
precious.
What happens through Earthfolk practices is
a
process of both personal and global transformation.
