What we Earthfolk focus on are three
movements that reflect the four
themes of
the Warrior's Quest. Each of these Dark Story themes threads together—historically
and interpretively.
First, how the Intimate Other is
treated. Here we examine and interpret the
rise of America's original penal practice, namely,
the prison discipline called "separate confinement" and
the rise of the prison institution, the "penitentiary."
Second, we explore how dreadful
fear sustained the theory and practice of
annihilating the population of the native first
people.
Third, we discern how the creatively
imagined "peculiar institution"
of slavery expressed
the drive to annihilate the feminine.
Lastly, when these three movements
of America's Dark Story of Origin are brought into the spotlight,
they reveal the clear
pathway
"America" took
to
develop the apocalyptic weapon of
self-annihilation—the
Atomic Bomb.
