The Scientism
tradition in which
a claimed objective, disinterested,
probing reason and rationality
subordinates
(at times dismisses) subjective, participatory, and intuitive
feeling and empathy as ways of knowing and being.
This is a male-energy
tradition which defines its own moral boundaries and
presents itself as a self-regulating authority.
Scientism positions the empirical
scientific methodology as a core practice but
also elevates reasoning and rational discourse to a status that mirrors that which
most major religions call acts of Faith and Revelation in that they
are self-referential and self-authorizing.
While there is no established seat
of authority or a official leader Scientism followers
speak of a global "scientific community"
which ensures that claims are verified or falsified.
Others, such
as Earthfolk, espy the mythic character of
Scientism—with
its denial of being mythic being one of its salient creatively
imaginative
characteristics.
