The practical rub is that to engage
in a nurturing embrace requires opening yourself to
your vital zest which will first be
experienced when you actually experience a nurturing
embrace. That’s a bit of the chicken and the egg dilemma.
Truly, the only way to get there is to prepare and
practice. Practice, practice, practice—and this
is where rituals become useful.
But a little more background is needed: For Earthfolk,
every Warrior act of slaying, every
moment when someone is approached as Intimate Enemy,
at every instance where another is degraded or
sexually abused, at these moments the Living Earth’s
mind, heart and spirit is informed.
Just as we humans have
body, mind and spirit aspects
so does the Living Earth.
Every physical aspect
of the Living Earth is an aspect of your own
physicality. We stand on the dirt and rocks. We see
the vastness of the sky and out to the horizon. We hear
the melodious symphony of birds, dogs, whales—and our fellow humans.
We taste the fruits of the trees and bushes, the plentiful
bounty of farms and gardens. We revel in the aromas
of baked breads and the scents of flora. We reach out and touch—kiss,
caress, embrace, cuddle and befriend—all living creatures. We
breathe in tandem with Earth’s green-plant lungs.
We simply are, here, at-home on the Living
Earth.
We embrace all and
are embraced by all.
Our minds are creative
expressions of Earth’s mind. We humans are Earth’s
consciousness and conscience. Our
hearts are also Earth’s heartbeat.
While distinct, unique, personal, individual—the
“me” flows like a wave
on the oceanic “We.” This Earthfolk hold
is the fullest sensation of being human, of being sensually
precious—being me/We.
