Is all lost?
Will the Living Earth be nuclear bombed to smithereens?
Will humans ever come to recognize the grip that the
Warrior’s Quest vision has on them?
And if so, will they seek healing?
To make themselves whole? Will they come to embrace the vision and engage
in the practice of Earthfolk rituals of sensual preciousness?
Several of the definitional traits of post-traumatic
stress disorder (PTSD) provide some insight into what might
happen and what should be done. PTSD
is an anxiety disorder that often occurs after a traumatic
event. Warfare is clearly a horrendous traumatic event for
all involved: invaders and victims. Sexual abuse is
its own special cruelty and horror. The worst impact is that you are
paralyzed by a dreadful feeling that you have no
control over what is happening.
People with PTSD experience several
types of symptoms. They often
-
relive the trauma
-
isolate
themselves from other people
-
feel deeply numbed
(physically, emotionally, spiritually), and are
-
constantly anxious in a state of
hyper-arousal
Additionally, there are associated biological
changes, such as depression, substance abuse, problems of memory
and cognition, and a general decline in physical and mental health.
